New York Minutes- Noodle Cafe Zen

The weather out today was perfect for ramen noodles! And since there are so many different options here in New York City, my friends and I decided to take a stab at one of the places in the East Village area.

Located on St. Marks Place (8th St.) between 2nd and 3rd Avenues, Noodle Cafe Zen has great food, and a great lunch special! For $10.75, you get a choice of a ramen noodle bowl and a side dish, and a house salad included. And they definitely aren’t shy with the portions.

Here’s what my friend and I ordered:

Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen

  • Spicy Tonkotsu (pork) Ramen with thin noodles, and a side of kimchee fried rice
Shoyu Ramen

  • Shoyu Tonkotsu Ramen with thick noodles, and a side of spicy tuna roll (3 pcs)

Unfortunately I got a little too excited to eat and forgot to take photos of the side dishes. My apologies! They also had great vegetarian options for another friend that was with us, including the shiitake mushroom buns.

The next time you’re in the East Village area, make sure to check this place out, as well as the rest of St. Marks Place and the surrounding blocks. Great Japanese food everywhere!
